Zimbabwe: More Than a Horseback Safari
Spend a week or longer on a 50,000-acre wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe, combining horseback safaris with daily life around a herd of more than 40 horses and practical conservation activities. Accommodation, meals and Bulawayo Airport transfers are included.
The Experience
On a family-owned, 50,000-acre reserve in Zimbabwe, horseback safaris sit alongside the everyday work of caring for more than 40 horses and restoring a wildlife habitat. Staying for seven, fourteen or twenty-one nights gives you time to get to know the herd and the landscape beyond a single game-viewing outing.
Guided rides explore open plains, valleys and river systems, with opportunities to look for giraffes and other wildlife, while grooming, groundwork, training and natural horsemanship continue the experience back with the horses. Swimming with horses may be possible when conditions permit, and conservation activities can include wildlife monitoring, camera-trap surveys, species data collection or habitat restoration, according to the work taking place during your visit.
Traditional thatched accommodation, full board, nonalcoholic drinks and return transfers from Bulawayo Airport are included, with arrivals and departures running Monday to Monday. Beginners and experienced riders are welcome, activities are matched to ability, and the maximum rider weight is 85 kg; tell us your riding background and preferred length of stay so we can confirm the arrangements, including any longer stay.
